Soon after the end of
WWII, the shop opened on a street, facing the street cars.
Once you enter the shop, your eyes are caught at this steaming pan
and frying pan that could tell us hundreds of different stories and
memories. Two different potato snacks are cooked in these aged pans:
Baked and steamed potato, Mishima Yaki, and Deep fried and honey glazed
potato, Meibutsu Potato. The main ingredients, the potatoes, are grown
by contracted farmers of the Kinko bay area, Kagoshima prefecture.
To make Mishima Yaki, potatoes are cut into 10 cm slices and deep
fried. Those fried potatoes are dipped into the special honey and
glazed. The potato surely tastes sweet, but, it is not too sweet:
well-balanced and simple.
The shop person wraps the potatoes in a paper sheet and a bag. Take
a look at what is written on the wrapping paper and a bag. You will
enjoy the message in the old-fashioned Osaka dialect.
